This page lists every choice you have over your data on Random, and exactly where to find it. Most of them are one tap inside the app; for the rest, write to us and a person will handle it.
1. Delete your account and data
In the app: open your profile, go to Settings → Delete My Account and confirm. Your profile, thoughts, messages and check-ins are removed.
If you cannot open the app: write to hello@random-app.com from the email address linked to your account, or tell us the phone number you signed up with. We confirm it is you, delete the account, and answer within 30 days.
What remains after deletion: content you deleted may stay in a restricted moderation area for up to 24 hours, and reports or moderation decisions about an account are kept for as long as needed to keep the community safe. Details are in the Privacy Policy, section 5.
2. Control who sees you
- Ghost Mode — one tap hides you from the people feed and checks you out of any place.
- Block — the other person can no longer see you or write to you. They are not told.
- Mute — keeps a conversation but silences its notifications.
- Thoughts — you choose how long a thought lives (1, 4 or 7 days), whether people can react to it, and you can delete it at any time.
- What you unlock in a chat — voice messages, photos and interests are shared only when both people agree.
- No photo, no real name — your profile is an orb and a username. There is nothing to opt out of here; we never ask for them.
3. Location
Random only uses your location if you allow it, and other people only ever see an approximate area (rounded to about one kilometre), never an address. To change or withdraw the permission: iOS Settings → Random → Location. Choosing “Never” turns off nearby people and place check-ins; the rest of the app keeps working.
4. Notifications, camera, microphone
Each of these is asked for only when you first use the feature, and each can be switched off at any time in iOS Settings → Random. Withdrawing a permission does not affect anything you already sent.
5. Get, correct or move your data
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you in a portable format, ask us to correct it, object to a use of it, or ask us to restrict it while we review an objection. Write to hello@random-app.com; we answer within 30 days and the request is free.
6. Tracking, ads and analytics
- Random shows no ads and does not sell or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites and we do not use the advertising identifier, so the app never shows the iOS tracking prompt.
- The app records anonymous usage events (which screens are used) and crash reports, to fix problems. To object to this for your account, write to us.
7. On this website
random-app.com uses no cookies and no advertising tools. It counts visits in aggregate, without storing your IP address or anything that identifies you. If you prefer not to be counted at all, open random-app.com/?notrack=1 once in this browser; visits from it are no longer counted (undo).
Messages sent through the contact form are kept so we can answer you. Ask us to delete yours at any time.
